Game not accessible for blind people
« on: July 05, 2018, 05:33:20 am »
hi
i have a problem with your game. it is not accessible to blind people.
I am using an iPhone with apple's screenreader called VoiceOver. VoiceOver allows me to use the iPhone as a blind person. It reads text and lets me interact with almost anything.
The problem with JoinDispatch is that no text is being read. When I open the app it just plays music. When i use my navigation commands (swipes) to see what elements are on the screen, nothing comes up. it is as though the screen is blank.
You can go to
www.applevis.com
and register as an app developer there. then you can interact with many other blind and visually impaired people and many of them can help in making the app usable.
Cheers!

Hey! Welcome to the forum. I thought you brought up an interesting point and I had a couple questions. I’m just a fan of the game, so I have no way to help you; if you’d rather not answer, I get that. In any case, how’d you come across the game? I’d think most text based games would be difficult to access as someone who is blind; is there a stand out good example of a text based game that’s also accessible to the blind? Actually, now that I consider it, I have a hard time thinking of any video game that I would consider blind-friendly, regardless of the genre. What’s your favorite?

Hoping they can make it so you can play the game.
Jujitsu? I'm going to learn jujitsu?

Do not try to bend the spoon. That is impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth. That there is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends. It is only yourself.

She told you exactly what you needed to hear. That's all.

Thanks for sending the info about the other games that work with VoiceOver Warcat, that's a great resource for me to check out to get this feature going - I'm a solo dev so it takes more time than I'd like to get things done, but it is definitely high on my list to make the game accessible to blind people!
